Stethome and Syntoil - Products of the Future!

Stethome’s smart stethoscope was recognized as the most promising innovation from the private sector in the Polish Product of the Future competition organized by PARP and NCBR. The award also went to Syntoil.

The 22nd edition of the “Polish Product of the Future” competition has selected innovative projects in the field of medicine, chemistry, electronics and biotechnology. Out of the 96 applications, the work of the 2 startups from our portfolio has been recognized. StethoMe received the main award in the category “Entrepreneur’s Product of the future” for their smart stethoscope that detects irregularities/ abnormalities that occur, among others during the course of infections such as, pneumonia or asthma. The stethoscope allows for the patient to conduct an independent examination at home. In the same category, Syntoil received a distinction for their photovoltaic glass with a coating based on quantum dots, which supports air conditioning and reduces the heat of a room by up to 80%.
Furthermore special prizes were also given out in the competition, and one of them was awarded to the Stethome team for a product from the information and communication technologies industry.
The projects submitted for the competition were evaluated by a jury composed of the representatives from, among others, the Chancellery of the President, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, the Polish Development Fund, the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations of the Chief Technical Organization, Warsaw University of Technology, University of Warsaw as well as the media.

The National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) is an executive agency of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. It was established in the summer of 2007 as a unit implementing tasks in the field of science, technology and state innovation policy. At the beginning, it was the first unit of this type, created as a platform for effective dialogue between the science and business environment. The NCBR extended the scope of its activities to include new initiatives and opportunities. Taking over the function of an Intermediate Institution from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in three operational programs: Human Capital, Innovative Economy and Infrastructure and Environment, the NCBR has become one of the largest centers for supporting innovation in Poland.
